My name is Wilfrido Oviedo. I was born in Coacoyula Guerrero, Mexico. I started painting at the age of 8 under the influence of my Aunt, who painted Folkart with bright colors and in a primitivist fashion. Her work was painted on a paper called "amate" made of natural fibres which is produced proudly by the indigenous people of the region.
For me, art is a way of expressing my knowledge and what I have experienced through all of my senses. I attempt to do this in the same harmonious and balanced way in which my own soul has been nourished. I feel a great need to contribute in a positive way to the world we live in. Painting is the medium in which I best express myself. Furthermore, passionate desire for life, humanity and beauty are my inspiration to create and re-create every day, I hope to help shape a better world.
